Great first race of the season! Santa Fe Trails Racing Team raced the Spring Fling Criterium Series in Lawrence on Saturday. The weather was beautiful. Light winds, and sunshine. The day went by like a flash! John Merrit selected an excellent site to set up our team tents. We all pitched in and soon our area was setand warm ups began. The men’s category 5 race actually had 50 racers! That’s a huge field. Congratulations to everyone on the team who came out and raced. We are all riding very well, especially considering it is still February!

The first race was the Master 35+ Brendan and Alex. Fast race which our riders hung on to finish with the leaders. Next race was the ladies category 4. Kirsten Carl raced and finished fourth. Kirsten rode so hard that she had to lay down afterwards to catch her breath! Anita Gonzalez , Missy Holstead and Stephanie Edwards also raced. Our juniors raced next: 9-12 Mason Winters was 1st and Philip Sheehan was 4th. 12-18 Francis Sheehan was 5th Broc Priddis was 6thand Mason Winters was 7th. Girls 9-12 Abby Lisk was first and Danielle Edwards was 2nd. Billy Priddis was 8th in the men’s category 5. Also racing in the men’s category 5 were Aaron Rodgers, John Merritt, Tony Thompson, Josh Mendoza, John Schmidtke and Glen Mosher.
