Last night Mark Anderson our Outside Representative from Specialized came to talk about Specialized Road Bikes. It was an outstanding presentation and I started thinking about road bikes. Like many people my age I started on a steel bike, thrilled to the speed of an aluminum bike, became hooked on carbon and never went back. Mark challenged this paradigm. He introduced smart weld aluminum. This is a new type of aluminum frame developed by Specialized. It closely resembles the ride and geometry of a Tarmac and enables the rider to ride a better component specification for less money. I think certain riders would benefit from this new bike category.
